The Production Process

At our production facility we understand fully that what happens here will
determine both the quality and longevity of the wooden windows and doors
we will deliver to you. With this at the forefront of our minds we have strict
controls throughout our production process that ensure a seamless
transition from one stage to the next and a perfect product ready for
installation.

Wood preparation

Upon receipt of your order we begin by cutting the timber to the required
length for each window size and configuration ordered.

Heavy investment in IT and equipment ensures absolute precision in the
manufacture of your timber windows and doors. The factory is one of the most advanced in Europe. All tooling is regularly scanned by a state-of-the-art
machine to ensure accuracy is maintained day in day out.

Machine Processing

CNC controlled machinery linked to our main software system allows us to
efficiently and accurately manufacture bespoke product to your specified
dimensions.

The machining process consists of accurately machining end connections,
mortices and tenons, profiles and routing for hardware, fittings and furniture.
This automation allows us to manufacture a customised window or glass door
in a way that is more typical of high-volume manufacturers. Maintaining high
standards of quality whilst keeping costs low.

When frames are ready for assembly, tenons are glued and mechanically
pressed creating strengthened joints. At this point the frames are ready for the first stage of the factory coating treatment process.

Manual precision

The sanding process is often an area where, with some manufacturers,
shortcuts are made. At our factory there are 3 stages of sanding to ensure the smoothest of finishes on all our wooden windows and doors.

All our timber framing is meticulously prepared for painting using state of the
art machinery before the initial primer coat and then in between the two top
finishing coats; attention to detail is provided at this stage by skilled
operatives to ensure that a perfect finish is achieved.

Stage 1 is carried out after preservative treatment; stage 2 after base coat
application and stage 3 after first topcoat application.
The majority of the sanding work is done by hand by trained joiners working
as an integrated part of our production line.

Coating Process

The way in which we apply the coating significantly impacts both the
performance of our products and the guarantees that we can provide.
Our coating process enables us to offer the most comprehensive coating
guarantees available in the UK.

Our factory has an automated coating booth and drying chamber where the
final layer of top coat is applied providing our timber windows and doors with
their final weather resistant coating. This coating and hanging out to dry
system ensure that the film thickness of our coatings are consistent across all
parts of the product thus avoiding unsightly paint build up in the corners.
Manual checking is also carried out on every order to ensure perfect paint
thicknesses so you can be assured of paint that will last.

Fittings

Every item of sash window furniture we supply undergoes an intensive design
and manufacturing process so that 100% functionality is achieved at all times
and can be fitted quickly and efficiently. All our sash window furniture can be
used when making new sash windows but can also be retro fitted to enhance
the appearance and functionality of existing sash windows.

Glazing

One chamber heat insulating glazing unit comprises two glass panes,
including one Thermofloat glass pane with invisible layer of inert metals
combination (so-called “low emission layer”).

Two chamber heat insulating glazing units comprise two Thermofloat glass panes. The space between glass panes is filled with argon gas, which further reduces heat transfer coefficient Ug. Protection against gas leak at the glass pane perimeter is ensured by warm distance frame with two-step sealing.

Quality control

All of our products are continually checked through the manufacturing
process to ensure the final product is of the highest quality.
We take pride in our work and it shows on all of our products.
